NEW YORK — Was getting up difficult today? There are scientific explanations for why we hate Mondays. Here are six reasons.
1. Sleep pattern
Every time we switch time zones, it messes with our body. The same experience may occur every weekend when we try to compensate for lost sleep from the work week. According to scientists, it gets increasing harder to get up on Monday mornings, and you’re tired at the beginning of the week, even though you think on the contrary that you “slept up” over the weekend.
2. Social life
Humans are social beings and to feel happy, we must also feel comfortable at work, our “tribe.” After a weekend away from work, we must convince ourselves that the workplace is okay and “safe.” To gossip with colleagues is an important part of starting up a new work week.
3. Sudden changes
Scientists have concluded that emotions on Mondays are no more stressful or depressing than on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Fridays do not count as they are “the beginning of the weekend.” In other words, every other day in equally “terrible,” but if you ask people, they will always say Mondays. And this is because Mondays are the strongest contrast to the weekend.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that even those who have perfect control over their diet weighs most at the beginning of the week. Scientific studies show that more people suffer from heart attacks and strokes on Mondays.
6. Hate work?
According to an American study, as many as seven of ten of all people hate their jobs. This phenomenon is related to what psychologists and career coaches call “Monday blues,” feelings of depression and anxiety can the may emerge on Sunday evening and lead to an unproductive Monday.
